God is love. Jesus is love in manifestation. Jesus is manifested love or love in the flesh which is able to be discerned by those in the physical realm which we live in. Jesus is manifested love or Jesus is what God's love looks like. If you're looking at Jesus, you're looking at love in action.
Jesus enabled man to see what His love looks like. Everything Jesus did was an act of love. Everything that Jesus spoke was love speaking. Jesus is the perfect image of love, for Jesus is love! Now in Rom 5:5 the word says (therefore this is Jesus speaking to us for John 1:1 says the Word is God and in verse 14 it says the word became flesh, so the word is Jesus and since God is love, therefore Jesus is love, therefore the word is love, therefore this is love speaking to us). Now in Rom 5:5 the word says, "the love of God has been poured out in our ( the believer's) hearts." We believers now have that same love dwelling in our hearts. It is the believer (God's child) who now manifests (God's) love on the earth, when he yields to that love that resides in his spirit (heart). When I'm led by the Spirit and my actions are controlled by the Spirit, then love will be clearly seen by all men. And this is the witness God has called us to be. A witness of Himself in this world where we live.
God reveals Himself to man by who He is, Love. When man sees love, they are drawn to it. Look at Jesus's ministry on the earth. Where ever He went, love was in action and men were drawn to this love. They were drawn to the man they could see, the witness of God before them, which was love manifested in the flesh. Men are drawn by love. Love is the most powerful force on the earth for God is love. And this is what you and I, the believer, have been called to. To be God's witness (of Himself) on the earth today. The only way man sees God is by seeing love in action. Therefore the only way men will see love (God's love) is by them looking at you and me and seeing us responding in every situation in love. What does this look like? It looks just like Jesus. Whatever He did, we do. That's why Jesus said, " the works that I do, he (the believer-man or woman) will do also." Men have truly struggled with this saying. Why? Because they can't see themselves being like Jesus and doing what Jesus did. But this has been God's plan for man all along and He has made a way for man to do it. God's children (that's you and me and Jesus--Col 1:15&18 and Heb 1:5) are God's inheritance. God has inherited children that are made just like Him, because His Spirit is in each and every child of His. His Spirit is called Love and if we believers will yield to that Love, we will be the true witness of God on the earth and our witness will draw men to the foot of the cross where they in turn will meet God and be changed by God to look like one of His children, for God will pour out His Spirit into that man who receives the One (Jesus) to whom all the witnesses were pointing to by their acts of love.
You may now have a better understanding of why the adversary of your soul, the devil, attacks that love with such intensity. The devil knows that God will not be visible to other men if love is not seen. The devil could not stop Jesus's witness of love though he tried mightily and he will try his best to stop yours. It's love that defeated the devil and now it's love (that love in you and me, the believer) that enforces that defeat on the earth today.
With this revelation, we must protect this love that has been poured into our hearts at all cost. We must receive our assignment from God, the same assignment Jesus had, to be the witness of God's love before men and allow that love to draw men to God. We are sent out to reveal God's love in the midst of a dark and loveless world. We can do this thing because greater is He who lives in us than he who lives in the world.
Now you and I are responsible to grow up in this love and you'll only grow in it by exercising it or doing it. We will have to die to ourselves and to our own hurt to carry out this mission, but this is what we are called by God to do. 1John 4:17 says that love has been perfected in us (we have been a work in progress since the first day we were born again) therefore let us be perfected in that love, by keeping our eye on Perfect Love, Jesus, and do what He did so that we will confirm the end of that verse which says, "as He is, so are we in this world."
Now, lets you and I go out and act just like Jesus, for that is exactly what God has made us for. Let us put a smile on God's face today and be that witness before men that will draw them to the loving, caring, great and Almighty God that you and I know and who have become His inheritance for all eternity!! (the future truly looks great)
One further note: I think the best description of what God's love looks like is spelled out in the Amplified version of the bible and if you'll read and meditate the truth that God is saying to us in 1 Corinthians 12:31 to 1 Cor 13:8 you will see how love (God's love) acts and responds in every situation. If you'll allow God to help you do those things that you read in these verses, God will be clearly seen by those looking at you and that is all God is asking us to do.

This was good- and a challenge to me... walking in love is so contrary to how my flesh often wants to respond!!!
